I’d also recommend keeping all the letters and any emails they send you, just in case this escalates. Some HOAs get petty real quick when you push back. But you have every right to question them if they’re just making stuff up.

I had a similar issue with my HOA, but it wasn’t about pressure washing—it was about power tools making too much noise while I worked on my car. I pushed back, and turns out, they didn’t have any actual rule about it, so they dropped it. Sometimes HOAs get way too involved in minor stuff. Like @ulricemma said, unless there’s a written rule, they don’t have a leg to stand on.

We have a cell tower in our community and for the most part it’s good. The extra income really helps lower dues and homeowners are pretty happy about it. But there are some who didn’t want it at first. You might need to get approval from homeowners tho. Read your documents. You don’t wanna be on the hook for making a decision without getting required approval. Godspeed.

I have somewhat the same problem… We’re a gated community and there are speeding limits on our private roads. That’s fine and dandy but now the board has up and decided to issue speeding tickets which come with monetary fines. Does that sound right to you?

Homeowners have a right to request and copy HOA documents, especially governing documents like bylaws and CC&Rs. This is the case in most states, including Colorado (Colorado Revised Statutes, § 38-33.3-117). Just make sure you go through the proper channels and procedures (like sending out a written request). If your board still refuses to comply, you might want to lawyer up.

Some states have certain data protection laws that prohibit this kind of thing because it can encourage identity theft. There are also states that expressly prohibit disclosing homeowner information to third parties. Since I don’t know where you’re from, I’d advise you to check your state laws. A quick Google search should do the trick.

Alternatively, you can also take a quick peek at your bylaws and CC&Rs. Maybe your documents have something to say about it.
