Sorry to hear you’re going through this. I’ve had a similar experience with my HOA. One thing that worked for me was to rally some of my neighbors who shared the same concerns. There’s strength in numbers, and if multiple homeowners voice the same issue, the board might take it more seriously.

Your bylaws should tell you about notice requirements, including the period of notice needed and the manner in which you deliver it. For us, we’re required to send it via certified mail or email. It also depends on state laws, so check those too.

Your bylaws should tell you what to do next. Normally, resignations are followed by appointments by the board. But if the whole board resigned at once, then you might need to conduct a new election. The election committee will be responsible for organizing everything.

Why did your board dissolve in the first place? If your HOA should be under homeowner control, then your developer should not be in charge anymore. Get a proper board.

We don’t use it anymore because we have professional managers now but we did use Condo Manager in the past. Really good, very user-friendly, and inexpensive.

I have seen the designs for the solar panels I plan to buy and they don’t look like they would stand out too much. I will try showing the designs to the board but they seem hellbent on denying my request simply because I’ve challenged them about the mailboxes in the past.

Update: I have since been made aware that several other owners have been having trouble with their mailboxes as well. We have brought the issue to the board once again but they are holding off on replacing the mailbox until they “find room in the budget.”

Also, I have asked USPS about this and they said they are not responsible for replacing the lock because the HOA bought the mailboxes from a separate vendor about a decade ago.
