What arnie920 said only works if your condo association is really responsible for plumbing maintenance and repairs. Otherwise, you’ll have to foot the bill yourself. Have you looked into your insurance policy? It might cover it depending on the damage and source.

Sorry you’re going through this. That sucks.

That said, you should check your declaration and site map to see if your condo association is truly responsible for repairing the plumbing. Perhaps it is a responsibility that unit owners have? If you don’t know, you can ask your condo board. If they won’t reply to your complaints, try to look for them in person or attend a board meeting. This way, you can approach them personally. You also likely have a building manager or condo manager that you can ask for help.

Why would you need 24-hour security during an eclipse?

Our bylaws don’t really say we can leave. Is selling really the only way out?

Depending on the nature of your complaint, you may be able to turn to HUD, the Civil Rights Division of the US Dept. of Justice, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, your state’s real estate division, or your state’s attorney general. Other than that, you might need to file a private lawsuit against your HOA.

Sorry you’re having trouble with this. That sucks. I’ve had my fair share of battles with my home owners association and it was not pretty. The best advice I can give you is to just do what the association says. It might seem unfair but it is normal for an association to ask an owner to remove trees or plants or things like that. If you don’t comply you can get fined and those fines can really add up over time.

Shocking as it may be – that’s actually a pretty common policy in many home owners assocs. Even without looking at your documents, I’m pretty sure your board has the power to implement such a rule.

Couple questions: 1) What state is your POA located? 2) Why did you POA post the names online?

Why resume physical meetings when virtual ones are just so much better? Attendance is higher, participation is higher, and the meetings are infinitely shorter – win-win for everyone!

Yes, our treasurer is a volunteer board member with the same authority. I don’t think our declaration says anything about paying board members but I’ll check again. Thanks.
