I have served on a HOA Board (2000 single family homes, $600k budget) and a COA Board (200 units, $700k budget). I have observed a fair amount of HOA and COA litigation at the trial court level. I have been reading HOA/COA statutes and nonprofit corporation law for many states for years. I have studied the Restatement (Third) of Properties (Servitudes), Common Interest Community section (a continually updated summary of appeals court decisions nationwide) and other case law. I am well-versed in reading reserve studies.
I have a particular interest in federal and state Fair Housing law. I have worked with people as they worked with HUD. I know the ropes of the HUD complaint and adjudication process pretty well.
I have held three major professional licenses and certifications in engineering. I hold Masters degrees. I have very minor, academic journal publications. I am not an attorney.
