I think you do need to register out-of-state vehicles in Virginia, though I may be wrong. You should really check with your DMV. I don’t see how this affects your HOA, though.

I raised this issue to our board and they said they can’t always stay on top of expenses. That doesn’t make sense to me. Isn’t it their job to do that?? Sounds like fraud waiting to happen imo.

I’m on the board of our condo in Seattle and let me tell you – outsourcing our financial management tasks made life a lot easier. Well then, as ginnie34 pointed out, you might have no other choice but to take legal action (or scare them that you’re going to) if your board isn’t listening to you. It’s sad but there’s nothing else we can do if our boards don’t follow the bylaws except to sue.

A management company can definitely make things easier for an HOA and the board. We hired one a few years ago and never had one before that and the difference is ASTOUNDING.

You can buy cheap locks at Home Depot or Lowes for under $10. They are also good quality and relatively easy to install yourself. If you try, you might even be able to talk your postman into installing it for you but I imagine you would have to schedule this beforehand.
