Our gate company is telling us that it is standard practice for gated communities to leave their gates open during the day and only close them overnight, to minimize wear and tear on the mechanisms. Anyone have experience with this?
We leave our gate open not because of the potential wear and tear but to have more access in case of an emergency. I suppose it’s an HOA decision. If you don’t feel safe leaving the gate open during the day, you should talk to your contractor.
In my opinion, wear and tear should be part of the maintenance offered by your gate company. It’s their job to provide you with gates. They can’t dictate what you can and can’t do with them.
