Homeowners associations have different rules and regulations. Whether or not you can put a storage building in your backyard depends on what your governing documents say. Check your CC&Rs and bylaws to see if you’re permitted to put a storage building there. You may also ask your HOA board or community manager. More often than not, though, you will need permission from the Architectural Committee in your HOA.
