Question:
Can HOAs in Las Vegas have pot lucks? I am hearing mixed messages whether this is allowed, and would like to see regulations in writing.
And are we allowed to charge a nominal fee, like a dollar, to play bingo?

Answer:
Hi David,
It depends on the governing documents and the association’s rules. They may have provisions stating whether or not the HOA can host a potluck or community party. As for charging fees, according to the Nevada Uniform Common-Interest Ownership Act Section 116.3102(j), the association can impose charges for the use, rental, or operation of the common elements other than limited common elements. Hence, if the homeowners want to rent or use a common area to play bingo, the association may be entitled to charge a nominal fee for the use of the area.
