Noisy Tenants in Washington HOA

Question:

We have renters living below us who refuse to be quiet. They are constantly disturbing the people above, below and beside them, all of whom are owners.
We have all complained multiple time to our property management company, who is supposed to inform the board, by email and telephone and by having to call the police. Neither the property management company nor the board have responded to us. We feel like we’re on our own, unless the police get involved at least two more times, according to someone from property management.

Answer:

Hi Vicki,

Consider speaking to your noisy neighbors and asking them to keep the noise down. You may also want to inform the landlord/unit owner of the noise. Additionally, check your governing documents. Many communities have rules against noise. If yours is the same, your board must enforce those rules.
