Question:
2 questions.
1 – Our HOA dues were raised from $331/quarter to $414/quarter. That is over the 20% I see mentioned in all the articles I’ve read. Can they do that?
2 – I am trying to create a Bingo night at our clubhouse as a fundraiser for one of the clubs. I was told gambling is not permitted. Is that true?
Thank you.
– Jo Anne
Answer:
Hi Jo Anne,
Nevada law currently does not limit the increase of HOA dues. However, you should check your governing documents to see if your HOA has any written limitations or caps when it comes to dues and assessments. Your governing documents should also be able to tell you whether or not gambling is not permitted as a social event or fundraiser in your community. Not all HOAs are the same, and what may be allowed in one may not be allowed in another.
