Question:
My question is concerning insurance.
Our HOA does not have any structures or physical property other then the common areas.
There are two ponds within our common area and a basketball court.
My question is what type of Insurance should our HOA have? Do we need liability insurance incase someone gets injured in the ponds or basketball court?
Would there by any liability as they are not ponds for swimming.

Answer:
Hi Craig,
First, it is important to check your governing documents to see if there are any insurance requirements set forth within them. Next, it is a good idea to ask an insurance agent or HOA manager about your predicament.
Generally, though, it is best for an HOA to have some form of liability insurance just in case. Injuries can still take place on basketball courts and ponds. You should also have property insurance. Most master policies cover both.
