Insufficient Parking for Residents in HOA

Question:

Hello.
Can you explain this:
“Insufficient Parking for Residents. If you don’t have enough parking for residents, you can convert some guest parking spaces to resident parking. This is provided you live in a community where the HOA owns the common areas.”
So, if some residents / owners in HOA have more cars they can take over the common elements parking spaces if insufficient for them? If we pay our maintenance for these spaces proportionally why should a HOA allow a resident/ owner to get more spaces than proportionate amt unless they pay more? If they need more space – move.

Answer:

Hi Jacquelyn,

This particular parking issue and proposed resolution is something that the HOA board must act on — not individual residents. If the HOA owns the guest parking area, the board can vote to convert some of those parking spaces into resident parking spaces.
