Homeowner Fence Denied Despite Others’ Approval

Question:

When an HOA doesn’t follow its rules that is sent out on several convents, and denied me on my fence layout because I’m on a corner lot, but then another homeowner got theirs approved. When I questioned it with the HOA company I was told I just wanted to cause trouble, feel I am being discriminated against, or be treated wrong cause I have been voicing my concerns cause the HOA Company PMI is showing favoritism.

Answer:

Hi JR,

Kindly review the specific guidelines of the HOA’s architectural standards to verify whether your fence request is compliant. If it is, you may raise this with the HOA board by contacting them directly or bringing it up at a board meeting. You may also bring up the HOA management company’s treatment toward you to the HOA board. If conflict persists, you may opt for alternative dispute resolution. For further guidance, kindly consult a lawyer.
