HOA Board Not Fulfilling Their Promise to Maintain Driveways and Sidewalks

Question:

Hello,

My HOA informed us a few months ago around March that they were going to use the money that we have accumulated to pressure was the driveways and sidewalks in our neighborhood. I waited months for them to do it.

They never mentioned it again and when asked about it they never responeded. I heard from a neighbor that they decided not to do it anymore. But no one was informed as to why not.

We have over $85k in our HOA bank and nothing is being done with this money. Is there a way I can go about getting them to at least clean the drive way like they promised and the sidewalks as well.

Thank you

– Lovely

Answer:

Hi Lovely,

Kindly review the governing documents to understand the HOA’s responsibilities when it comes to maintenance and repairs. If the HOA has a duty to maintain the sidewalks and driveways, you may submit a maintenance request to your HOA board to have them specifically clean the driveways and sidewalks. If they do not accept maintenance requests, you can contact them or submit a letter to ask why they have not completed the pressure washing work and cite the provision in the governing documents. You can also request a meeting with the board or raise this issue during a board meeting.
