Question:
The HOA hired a vendor to do yard debris cleanup. In the process the vendor damaged our blacktop driveway. The president of the HOA has refused a request to have our driveway repaired. What recourse do we have? Thank you.

Answer:
Hi Matt,
Who is responsible for repairing the damages will depend on what’s stated in the governing documents. Kindly review them to see whether there are any provisions regarding this. If the HOA or vendor is responsible, you may raise this with the HOA board by contacting them or bringing it up during a board meeting. You may also check whether the HOA or the vendor has insurance to cover the damages. Make sure to document the damages so you have evidence to show. If the HOA is not responsible, your homeowner insurance policy may cover the damages.
