Are Renters allowed to request HOA rules and regulations. The HOA I contacted stated that only the homeowner can request the information. And it is not listed anywhere online either.

Hi Rachael,
The Virginia Property Owners’ Association Act ยง 55.1-1815(B) does specify that “…all books and records kept by or on behalf of the association shall be available for examination and copying by a member in good standing or his authorized agent.” The Virginia Condominium Act contains similar a provision. You should also check your governing documents to see if they specify whether or not tenants can request a copy of the association’s records. If not, the homeowner/landlord will need to put in the request.
