Can Non-Resident Homeowners Serve on the Board in Florida?

Question:

Can a homeowner be on the Board of Directors if they don’t live on the property?

– Lorayne

Answer:

Hi Lorayne,

It depends on your governing documents. Your HOA’s bylaws contain the qualifications of board members and should be able to tell you whether or not a non-resident homeowner can serve on the HOA board. Florida law currently does not address this concern.
