Question:
Im a property manager in Indiana. I have an association in the middle of a 4 year special assessment for Balcony repairs.
They told me in order to finish work on the building, they need another special assessment.
Can they legally hold 2 special assessments.
The old one is stretched over 4 years. We are in year 2.
The new one will be like 5k.
Are they allowed to actively have 2 special assessments?

Answer:
Hi Ed,
Whether or not an association may levy two special assessments depends on the language of its governing documents. Check the association’s CC&Rs and bylaws to confirm.
