Can a Condo Charge a Fee for Copies of Records in Illinois?

Question:

I asked the manager of my HOA Condo Assoc. for copies of our board meeting minutes from 2020 through 2024. I also asked her to email them. Do I have to pay for these per any Illinois law Thanks

Answer:

Hi Carol,

According to 765 ILCS 605/19(f):

“The actual cost to the association of retrieving and making requested records available for inspection and examination under this Section may be charged by the association to the requesting member. If a member requests copies of records requested under this Section, the actual costs to the association of reproducing the records may also be charged by the association to the requesting member.”
